Classic Match: 1979 Fa Cup Final Arsenal V Manchester United

Regarded as Wembleys finest finale, this was the final where the best was definitely saved until last. With United competing in their third final of the late 70’s and Arsenal looking to avenge their shock defeat to Ipswich the previous year, the stage was set for a heavyweight showdown between two of the countries most prestigious teams in the very last final of the decade.

ManU fans seem more troubled by this than Arsenal fans are excited.Whats with the insecurity Reds?

This was the most gutted I have ever been after a football match (I was 12). However, Giggsy more than made up for it in 1999 with his wonder goal against Arsenal at Villa Park. Didn’t United win the Treble that year? LOL.

Still remmember watching this game, first game i can really remmember. Great match but Arsenal deserved it even though i was gutted, and Arsenal had the best player on the pitch in Liam Brady.
